I have an enormous amount of respect for Michael Steinberg, a criminal defense attorney with whom I recently became acquainted. Mr. Steinberg carved out time for me, late in the evening, to offer his advice. Having none of my bullshit, he pinpointed weaknesses, anticipating future problems that would be best addressed sooner than later. I’m glad I had a notebook… because he fired off a number of specialty legal references. At one point he hung up to make calls on my behalf. He then called back immediately, and having a better understanding of the situation – really let me have it. While on the phone, he searched my name online and showed me examples of weaknesses, rather than just tell me. As legislative staff, at both the federal and state level, I’ve attended intimate meetings with Supreme Court Justices and corporate execs with fancy titles. Over the years, you end up forgetting most people. Only a handful of people stand out. Mr. Steinberg’s expertise is pretty great but his character is what makes him remarkable. If you want a hug and a pat on the back – you should probably call someone else. However, when you find yourself in a complicated legal situation that leaves you confused and overwhelmed, Mr. Steinberg is EXACTLY the attorney to call. He didn’t talk to me like I was an idiot nor promise a clear path. He offered solid legal advice. Even with the work I do, it seemed like getting good legal references was an exhausting mission. I had no idea it could be so difficult and was entirely unprepared. Through this process, I’ve come to learn that good attorneys are like good parents: *they kick your ass when you need it *they drop everything for you if you’re hurt or in danger *they anticipate future danger *and they put your needs before their own. Words I don’t often speak: I’m impressed with his skill, moved by his character, and trust his advice.

Mike, I have to admit I hated having cases that you represented people I had charged, as you were such a total pain in the a** because of the lengths you would go to in defending them! I always liked how you could turn a simple DUI into a murder trial! I hated it as a cop, but respected it as a person, and if I was in the defendant’s shoes, I would want you to do the same for me! I have to be honest and tell you that if I was ever in criminal trouble, you would always be the first I would call! I have thought about you a lot since I left the department, and have even given people your name when they needed a good criminal defense attorney! Take that as an awesome, heart felt compliment buddy, because I don’t say that about a whole lot of defense attorneys!

Mike is a fighter with a delicate touch. Sometimes the best route in a case is to work out a plea agreement, other times trial is the way to go. Mike will navigate these murky waters for you in a way that leaves you in the best circumstances possible. Trust in him and your situation will be resolved with as little damage to your life as possible.

Mr. Steinberg represented my 21-year-old son in several cases, all involving serious drug-related charges in several counties. He was able to get one case dismissed, one case reduced to a misdemeanor, and a sentence of less than minimum guidelines and a recommendation for boot camp for the third. Mr. Steinberg worked diligently in each case, kept us well informed throughout, and was able to accomplish the best outcome in a seemingly impossible short period of time. We recommend him highly and will not hesitate to retain him again if the need arises.

Mike handled two cases for me and honestly, I couldn't have been happier with either outcome. I went into my legal situation facing multiple felonies and misdemeanors, all of which will be kept off my record upon my successful completion of probation. This was as good, if not better, than any of the "best case scenario" outcomes we discussed when I initially visited his offices for a consultation. Between waiting for court dates and warrants to be issued, the whole ordeal lasted almost 10 months, during which Mike and I were in constant contact. He was always a text or phone call away not only if I had any questions, but also when my parents would reach out with inquires of their own. We were never kept waiting for a response, which made the whole process so much less stressful. I would definitely recommend him if you require legal counsel!
